Volley Ball
by A. P Jet—Verbal Volley, by Oh Say. Winner of the $50,000 Storm Cat Stakes at Philadelphia Park, second in the $75,000 Huntington Stakes at Aqueduct and third in the Pennsylvania Futurity, with earnings of $77,127 in four starts. Bred by Shellaine Brown and sold as a yearling for $115,000.
 

TWO-YEAR-OLD FILLY
Treasure Coast Gem
by Mutakddim—Twice Crowned, by King’s Bishop. A seven-length winner of the $75,000 Blue Hen Stakes at Delaware Park; followed with a fourth-place finish in the Grade 1 Frizette at Belmont Park. Bred by Mike Sutherland’s North Highland Farm, she earned $96,524.
 
THREE-YEAR-OLD MALE
Top Hit
by Twining—Popular Tune, by Stop the Music. Winner as the favorite of the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby, and the Palo Verde Handicap at Turf Paradise, second in the Affirmed Handicap-G3 and third in the Lazaro Barrera Memorial Stakes-G3. In nine starts, he won two, with a second and two thirds, earning $266,632. Bred by Anne Thorington’s Maple Leaf Farm, he was a $25,000 Keeneland yearling.
 
THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLY
Golden Lake
by Salt Lake—Manhattan Gold, by Quadratic. An eight-length winner of the Wonders Delight Stakes at Penn National and a four-length winner of the Go for Wand at Philadelphia Park. For the campaign, she won four of 13 starts, with a second and three thirds, and earned $105,654. She is bred, owned and trained by Robert Seeger.
 
OLDER MALE
Nobo Jack
1997, by French Deputy—Flight of Angel, by Afleet. One of the top sprinters in Japan, winning seven of ten starts, including the Group 1 Japan Breeders’ Cup Sprint. He was the leading PA-bred money-earner of 2001, banking $2,355,510, and is currently the second leading PA-bred money-winner of all time. Bred by Mrs. Lewis C. Ledyard, he was a $250,000 2-year-old in training.
 
OLDER FEMALE
Betty’s Hat
1996, by Harry the Hat—Bear No Evil, by Allen’s Prospect. A winner of four of 11 starts, including a stirring win in the Ambassador of Luck Handicap and a narrow loss in the Pistol Packer Handicap, she earned $120,820 for the season. She was bred by Susan C. Walmer.

It’s A Giggle
1994, by Northern Baby—Martie’s Delighted, by Mo Bay. Winner of three of three starts at Saratoga, including a victory in the Grade 1 New York Turf Writers Handicap. Bred by the partnership of Bill Pape and Jonathan Sheppard, he earned $121,620 in seven 2001 starts.

1996, by Urigo—Mrs. Z and Me, by Titanic. Claimed early in the year for $7,500 by trainer Scott Lake, he won nine of 18 starts, including the $50,000 Express of the national Claiming Crown. His earnings for the year were $161,640. He was bred by Norris Gelman.
